Does GPI offer initial training to those looking to enter the plumbing trade?

GPI does NOT offer initial training. You must have at least three years primary field experience under the direct supervision of licensed plumber AND have an application on file with the State of Georgia to take the plumbing licensing exam.

How do I get the initial 3 years experience?

Find a plumbing company in your general area, or in an area where you want to work, that is hiring apprentices. A quick Google search will usually get you the info you need.

Is the Georgia Plumber's Exam open book?

No. Not at this time (10/22/24). There is discussion within the Board to do so but has NOT implemented at this time. Maybe in 2025.

As of October 17, 2022, the Licensing Board has gone to “OPEN TESTING”. There is no longer an April Exam, August Exam and December Exam. Once you get Board approval, you may register and schedule with AMP/PSI and take the exam whenever you want.

What the new rules mean to you:

There is no longer a Licensing Board deadline. You may submit an application at any time.
There is no longer an AMP/PSI deadline. You may register with AMP/PSI at anytime. However, as before, you may not SCHEDULE your exam until AMP/PSI receives your Board approval.
